Krafty Chicks Challenge #826: MASCULINE

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. MASCULINE is the theme this week and good luck to you. I struggle with cards for men. I love flowers and frills so I tend to buy more feminine stamp sets and play with those. I'll have to dig deep for masculine stamp set and dust them off before playing. Here we go!

 #826 MASCULINE

As I was playing with yet another Paper Pumpkin kit from long ago, I was left with a few extra bits that I couldn't let go to waste. It's actually a combination of a Christmas kit and a Masculine kit. I even added colour to the plain white birch trees to make it blend with the rest of my card.

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Paper Pumpkin kit
  • Card Stock: Crumb Cake
  • DSP: Components from two PP kits
  • Ink Pads: Early Espresso
  • Stampin' Blends: Pecan Pie
  • Accessories: Stylish Shapes die, Stampin' Dimensionals

I like to keep the envelope clean and simple by just adding a coordinating image. I forgot to take a pic of the inside of the card. It had a white panel with a red card stock strip and the stamped trees image.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration from the Design Teamfor MASCULINE week . There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #825: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge?? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. I always have a difficult time with the true CAS design of lots of white space but I've come to realized after all this time that there's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple). So just have fun with it.

#825 CAS

While scrolling through Facebook to pass the time, I came across a beautiful CAS card from Kerstin Ruter, a talented crafter on Stampin' Up!'s Artisan Design Team.

I loved the soft and subtle colours, the white silhouette foliage, and the dainty pearls. So I CASED it. I went on a hunt for a colour challenge and found one on The Paper Players blog.

I picked Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana for my background. For obvious reason the fern is in Lemon Lime Twist and although the background created a shade of purple with the blended colours, I stamped my sentiment in Gorgeous Grape.

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Fern & Flora
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Lemon Lime Twist
  • Ink Pads: Strawberry Slush, Lemon Lime Twist, Coastal Cabana, Gorgeous Grape
  • Accessories: Blending Brushes, Fern & Flora dies, Jewel Basic Pearls, Stitched Rectangles die

No card is complete without finishing the inside with a coordinating image. Same goes for the envelope. Keep it simple!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #824: CHRISTMAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Welcome to week 2 of our challenges and that's to use a CHRISTMAS or any holiday/winter theme on your project. I chose to put the spotlight on Christmas this week! I will also be entering the Holly And Ivy Christmas Challenge.

 #824 CHRISTMAS

This card is a Paper Pumpkin alternative using the October 2019 kit called Winter Woods. It was a ten card kit and I created 5 of them as suggested when I first got the kit so I had 5 card bases left for alternatives. Today I'm sharing one and I'll show the others come October.

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: PP kit October 2019 Winter Woods
  • Card Stock: Basic White
  • DSP:  PP kit October 2019 Winter Woods
  • Ink Pads: Night of Navy
  • Accessories: PP kit October 2019 Winter Woods die cuts and snowflake sequins, Stampin' Dimensionals

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I stamped a coordinating image and a little more DSP. Quick and easy and done.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for CHRISTMAS week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #822: MASCULINE

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. MASCULINE is the theme this week and good luck to you. I struggle with cards for men. I love flowers and frills so I tend to buy more feminine stamp sets and play with those. I'll have to dig deep for masculine stamp set and dust them off before playing. Here we go!

 #822 MASCULINE

Love the way this card turned out. I know I say that a lot, it's just surprises me sometimes that it comes together nicely and this time my colouring is on point (if I can toot my own horn...TOOT, TOOT!). I went to the "vault" of forgotten DSP for these manly patterns. That's where I stash the long ago retired DSP: in a rolling cart with 12"X12" paper storage cases (there's 6), AKA: the vault.

Products used: (I'll return later today with card details)

  • Stamp Set: A Good Man
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White
  • DSP: Windsor Knot
  • Ink Pads: Memento
  • Stampin’ Blends: Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Misty Moonlight, SU700, SU800
  • Accessories: It’s My Party Dots, Stylish Shapes dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple by just adding some DSP.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration from the Design Team for MASCULINE week . There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #821: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge?? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. I always have a difficult time with the true CAS design of lots of white space but I've come to realized after all this time that there's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple). So just have fun with it.

#821 CAS

Today I am showcasing an alternate card using the April Paper Pumpkin kit: Lakeside Retreat. It has serene vibes and a little bit of a masculine feel. I just started playing with this kit and have already created the three suggested card to get my creative mojo going and two more alternate designs. This one for CAS week and another for next week's Masculine Challenge. And I have so many more idea flowing.

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: April 2026 Paper Pumpkin kit: Lakeside Retreat
  • Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Pecan Pie
  • Ink Pads: Pecan Pie
  • Accessories: April 2026 Paper Pumpkin kit die cuts, Blending Brushes, Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Spotlight on Nature Dies, Stampin Dimensionals

No card is complete without finishing the inside with a coordinating element like the "drift wood". As the envelopes from the kit already had a pattern, I left it alone. Keep it simple!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #820: CHRISTMAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Welcome to week 2 of our challenges and that's to use a CHRISTMAS or any holiday/winter theme on your project. I chose to put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

 #820 CHRISTMAS

This week, I'm playing along with two challenges. First up, Holly And Ivy Christmas Challenge #204. They've made it simple with Anything Christmas Goes. They are currently looking for a new DT Member. So if you love creating Christmas paper projects, put DT beside your name when you enter the gallery to be considered. I'm thinking about it.

Second challenge is from Try A Sketch On Tuesday #695. It's a lovely sketch but my chickadee was facing the wrong way so I moved the flag banners to the other side. I think that's allowed.

I stamped my image using the new Hybrid ink pads from Stampin' Up! I had to stamp and colour the image three times. First I watercoloured it but the colour bled a bit outside the lines. My fault, wrong paper medium and old water painter. Second one I used my Stampin' Blends but following a different colour combo. I had issues with the Hybrid ink on the off brand paper. Finally, third times the charm! I changed it to a traditional colour scheme and used Stampin' Up!'s wonderful Whisper White card stock. It truly is the best. Here are my results in the close up. It's a good thing I love to colour!

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Beautiful Seaason
  • Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Vellum
  • DSP: really old retired SU! Christmas DSP
  • Ink Pads: Hybrid Basic Black
  • Stampin' Blends: Real Red, Old Olive, Pecan Pie, Crumb Cake, Gray Granite
  • Accessories: Triple Banner Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I added a little more DSP. Quick and easy and done.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for CHRISTMAS week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #819: BIRTHDAY

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

New month, new challenge starting today. Week one brings us a BIRTHDAY theme on the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Create any paper craft with a birthday theme, male, female, kids, card, scrapbook or even home decor. We hope to see you in the gallery.

#819 BIRTHDAY

I almost sat out for this week's BIRTHDAY Challenge, running out of time. So here's what happened. I'm in my craft room, playing along with a couple of challenges. For the sketch, it's a Case The Designer theme from Stampin' Up! Only Challenge

Then I went looking for a colour challenge. I tried two different combos and both the cards were total flops (in my opinion). One was Highland Heather, Pumpkin Pie, Strawberry Slush, and Daffodil Delight. The other colour combo was Flirty Flamingo, Pumpkin Pie, and Lemon Lime Twist. I just couldn't make it work! So at 9:30 pm, Wednesday night, 2.5 hours before deadline, I give it another go, with two colours. Turns out so much better, I like this card!

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: With You In mind
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Pumpkin Pie
  • Ink Pads: VersaMark, Flirty Flamingo
  • Stampin' Write Markers: Melon Mambo
  • Accessories: Heat Tool, White Embossing Powder, Eyelet Blooms Die (Product Of The Month of April), Stampin' Dimensionals

No card is complete without finishing the inside of the card and the envelope. Keep it simple with a little card stock and coordinating image. I even die cut the envelope flap to coordinate.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for BIRTHDAY week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.
